You can't repeat the formula of Undertale's tepid meta elements. (YOU, THE PLAYER, ARE LITERALLY TORTURING A REAL VIDEOGAME CHARACTER

No.169437
>>169345>Magic academy Though that does invoke creative (+) child murder (++) because kids can't be playable ( that'd be terrible from a game design perspective even when we're designing a game to be grief.) You'd have to severely limit the amount of jobs unless we were to invoke THE MAGICAL JANITOR.

But nobody would want to be the Magical Janitor when you could be The Professor of Murder Arts.
As I went through the thread, I began to brainstorm a complimentary idea. Sure, there could be a magical school (though they'd probably be more monk-coded) but what if it was just a normal town like mafia/werewolf but it's a RURAL town (aiming for the
meizenpeople's hearts

) surrounded by generic Jarpig monsters (meaning things quickly go to shit if everyone doesn't do their job- the town mayor or elder has to collect taxes to outfit the guards or else shit gets overrun. This dynamic ensures that anyone slacking or griefing will quickly follow the chain-of-command into terrible consequences.)
The kicker here is that I imagine (probably multiple times per round for the fun of it) is that there's a mandated Magicka-esque, randomized fertility ritual which requires specific, randomized resources from each of a select number of jobs. If you
SMURF it up, even the tiniest bit, you get a disaster though the extent of the disaster is pseudo-random where the extent of the disaster is affected by the level of
SMURF-up (say if you put 2/3 grain in, it's not probably not going to be the meteor event that destroys the town.) This gives it both girl appeal and COOL JAPAN appeal.

If we deem it sufficient, we can make sure that every job has a "farming"/alchemy element to it by doing a Hecking world-building to maintain its appeal to "that" audience.
And of course, the core tenet of griefing being incredibly easy to enact and obfuscate is still here and would lead to catastrophic outcomes that people would probably find fun or interesting to some extent even if they knew someone was griefing, because of its scale.

However, I think the commonality of the "gothicisms" and strong presence of certain AESTHETICISMS is still there. It might be diluted (I argue for the Death Note) if you add Evangelion or Xenogears however because they have slightly different connotations (less black and straps), not because of lack of commonality when we're talking about the over-the-top Judeochristian aesthetic for a Mexican rine.

We are close to the first one but maybe your fruity chaos magick stuff is a detriment due to its sincerity. Further analysis is required.
The second is what we should really be aiming for because it does also attract The Rose™. Not sure if all of us are close enough to strike this spark but it must be said that we're obviously closer to obtaining this when a certain someone isn't spamming politisperg rants.
It's a dangerous gambit though because we might end up with a Roxy and that would tear this place asunder.

Stories Are Here ✨
A New Way to Create, Play, and Share Adventures
Stories turn your favorite Characters into co-stars in a guided, visual adventure you create… then replay… then share with your friends.
Pick 2-3 Characters. Choose a genre. Whip up a premise (or let us generate one). Then, dive into a branching storyline shaped by every choice you make.
Stories are:
Replayable: choose a new adventure every time.
Visual-first: a cinematic way to explore new worlds.
Shareable: compare endings with friends on our Feed.
Built for everyone, including our teen creators.
Stories is our first new format created specifically to enhance our under-18 user experience.

What is this trait with normaldregs and playing up their loserdom? Not to minimize their feelings but they're meaningless and probably not at the forefront of the discussion to begin with. There are comfy NEETs out there and there are people who can't escape NEEThood; who are they trying to appeal or even relate to? I don't understand why someone being so
:33< purrformatively fatalistic. Like, what's the endgame? "NEET failure bedrot XD"; just a deflective identity to LARP as and feel self-pity when things don't go their way as they passively trudge through life like every other normie?
This generation has a ton of depressive episodes. It seems like the ones who get the worse end of it are those who still have a modicum of shame about it which is why they don't advertise it
SMURFING everywhere. Maybe that's another great Gen-Z quality. Self-pity and a lack of shame. Not to say I don't also suffer from self-pity, this post is full of it, but I've never orbited "loser circle for losers" meme circles.

Those reddit splinter Homestuck dicsords got some real femoids I think. >>169913It depends a lot on matchups because RPS strategies competing against one another is also "RPS-like". Matches between pure strategies generally only have numbers close to 100, 67, 50, 33, 0 in the results. So I'll let agents choose between multiple strategies at random each round with fixed probability.
There is a clear strongest strategy, which is an oracle that predicts the opponent's strategy and counters it. Within 100-game rounds the oracle can even get decent accuracy predicting composite strategies. The oracle cannot predict the strategy of other oracles because it creates the same infinite problem from werewolf belief prediction. It might be considered unfair that the oracle knows the list of possible strategies in advance though, I'm not sure how you would divide the type space without allowing this.
If you pick at random you can never lose to anything, but you also can't get an advantage against anything. So picking randomly is simultaneously the worst strategy and the second best strategy because it can't lose to the oracle.

Also in Ace Attorney, the apparent interactivity made me less interested in thinking about and engaging with the mystery, because in order to support that interactivity it becomes necessary for the player to rigidly follow along with each step of logic and present evidence in order. The original idea was that I could just cop out on the gameplay and have it be a strangely interactive story when needed, but I'd sure like to have puzzles still…
>>170127Yeah, the fun with Ace Attorney is it uses that rigid structure to mess with the players expectations and get them to play along with the story even when the actions lead to undesirable outcomes.

Also it's kind of annoying because it's not my intent to make it like The Silver Jiken but the similarities keep cropping up.

Most of the ideas came from some dreams I had years ago so I guess its just embedded into me at this point. Strangely enough, the first dream was "holy shit a sequel to Ghost Trick", but the actual gameplay was too abstract to bring into reality.
