"My Undertale" would be about you needing to genocide the Hecking wholesome 100 cute monsters in an open world and the story progress being tied almost solely to that, revealing why the monsters are so pervasive. I had something in my head about them being an invasive species and so on… :chii:

You can't repeat the formula of Undertale's tepid meta elements. (YOU, THE PLAYER, ARE LITERALLY TORTURING A REAL VIDEOGAME CHARACTER :hit:) You need to annoy and confuse the players and pull the rug on any sense of sentimentality. :righteous:

Trigun probably falls in with Soul Eater as a unique kind of Mexican rine phenotype. I guess Black Lagoon does too. And other vaguely gothic/horror themed stuff. Bleach.

Anything with oversized crosses, BDSM imagery, and nuns too. Weird, over-the-top Judeochristian imagery. I know why this exists in Japan- a cultural import of exploitation films. But the amount of oversized crosses in Japanese media is still very conspicuous. You have to wonder what the biggest daddy behind it is. :fairhearing:

>Magic academy
Though that does invoke creative (+) child murder (++) because kids can't be playable ( that'd be terrible from a game design perspective even when we're designing a game to be grief.) You'd have to severely limit the amount of jobs unless we were to invoke THE MAGICAL JANITOR. :jannie:

But nobody would want to be the Magical Janitor when you could be The Professor of Murder Arts.

As I went through the thread, I began to brainstorm a complimentary idea. Sure, there could be a magical school (though they'd probably be more monk-coded) but what if it was just a normal town like mafia/werewolf but it's a RURAL town (aiming for the meizenpeople's hearts :meizen:) surrounded by generic Jarpig monsters (meaning things quickly go to shit if everyone doesn't do their job- the town mayor or elder has to collect taxes to outfit the guards or else shit gets overrun. This dynamic ensures that anyone slacking or griefing will quickly follow the chain-of-command into terrible consequences.)

The kicker here is that I imagine (probably multiple times per round for the fun of it) is that there's a mandated Magicka-esque, randomized fertility ritual which requires specific, randomized resources from each of a select number of jobs. If you SMURF it up, even the tiniest bit, you get a disaster though the extent of the disaster is pseudo-random where the extent of the disaster is affected by the level of SMURF-up (say if you put 2/3 grain in, it's not probably not going to be the meteor event that destroys the town.) This gives it both girl appeal and COOL JAPAN appeal. :wow!:

If we deem it sufficient, we can make sure that every job has a "farming"/alchemy element to it by doing a Hecking world-building to maintain its appeal to "that" audience.

And of course, the core tenet of griefing being incredibly easy to enact and obfuscate is still here and would lead to catastrophic outcomes that people would probably find fun or interesting to some extent even if they knew someone was griefing, because of its scale. :wwhat:

I stand by the fact that the original start of the comic started in-game (because of the cursor) with the commands being typed by the server player before he decided to go nonsense mode because he wanted Dave to be player three (3) for semi-arbitrary reasons and so the commands can't be from a player because Rose wouldn't say those things. You can see remnants of this idea with the Exiles and the trolls explaining away prompts but those are stupider than the original intent of those just literally being Pesterchum messages that the Kids are reading in real time while they play the game.

You may say such a thing but there are definitely worse examples out there; that is my first line of defense, yes. :thunk:

However, I think the commonality of the "gothicisms" and strong presence of certain AESTHETICISMS is still there. It might be diluted (I argue for the Death Note) if you add Evangelion or Xenogears however because they have slightly different connotations (less black and straps), not because of lack of commonality when we're talking about the over-the-top Judeochristian aesthetic for a Mexican rine.

It starts with the merch. What we need is a sort of shaman to channel the Rose/GREEN energies and get a Rose/GREEN over our own. This is done in two ways.
1) Being insular and weird enough to attract a weird, insular girl who gets off on guarded attention-whoring.
2) Having enough "verbal roughhousing" and wweird energy for us to appear endearingly boyish to get an oh you boys!!!!!!!!!! (also a bit of an attention 傀儡.)

We are close to the first one but maybe your fruity chaos magick stuff is a detriment due to its sincerity. Further analysis is required.

The second is what we should really be aiming for because it does also attract The Rose™. Not sure if all of us are close enough to strike this spark but it must be said that we're obviously closer to obtaining this when a certain someone isn't spamming politisperg rants.

It's a dangerous gambit though because we might end up with a Roxy and that would tear this place asunder.

Stories Are Here ✨

A New Way to Create, Play, and Share Adventures

Stories turn your favorite Characters into co-stars in a guided, visual adventure you create… then replay… then share with your friends.

Pick 2-3 Characters. Choose a genre. Whip up a premise (or let us generate one). Then, dive into a branching storyline shaped by every choice you make.

Stories are:

Replayable: choose a new adventure every time.
Visual-first: a cinematic way to explore new worlds.
Shareable: compare endings with friends on our Feed.
Built for everyone, including our teen creators.

Stories is our first new format created specifically to enhance our under-18 user experience.

As open-ended chat winds down for teen users, Stories offers a structured and expressive way to create, in a safety-first setting.

Jump in and start your first Story here: http://labs.character.ai/stories

What is this trait with normaldregs and playing up their loserdom? Not to minimize their feelings but they're meaningless and probably not at the forefront of the discussion to begin with. There are comfy NEETs out there and there are people who can't escape NEEThood; who are they trying to appeal or even relate to? I don't understand why someone being so :33< purrformatively fatalistic. Like, what's the endgame? "NEET failure bedrot XD"; just a deflective identity to LARP as and feel self-pity when things don't go their way as they passively trudge through life like every other normie?

This generation has a ton of depressive episodes. It seems like the ones who get the worse end of it are those who still have a modicum of shame about it which is why they don't advertise it SMURFING everywhere. Maybe that's another great Gen-Z quality. Self-pity and a lack of shame. Not to say I don't also suffer from self-pity, this post is full of it, but I've never orbited "loser circle for losers" meme circles.

Being the center of attention is the thing that directly attracts wwomen to a community, your suggestions could attract attention but aren't really that effective or sufficient on their own. Especially being insular/weird will only work if you get widespread attention for being insular/weird. I think the "best"(?) way to harvest attention is to create some kind of controversy involving existing communities. Homestuck is a rather "good"(?) start too since it's a popular topic with fandomnigs, but there is no actual way to find this site and I think it's a bit inaccessible. Those reddit splinter Homestuck dicsords got some real femoids I think. If it wasn't already obvious I don't think any of this is worthwhile, I just wanted to express my observation that they flock around "popular thing" largely regardless of its characteristics and not much matters besides being "popular thing"

This is as far as I go, it turns out that making an pure perfect Bayesian agent for this game is MATHEMATICALLY IMPOSSIBLE because agents have to model what others believe about what others believe about what others believe and so on. I cut it off at depth 2, but it's still slow. Then, to actually decide what behaviour the agent should choose after it has its beliefs, there is no hope for any kind of pure search simulating future events since you would have to perform the same heavy belief updates at even more depth. So the only realistic option is to use a billion immediate heuristics without any future prediction and tune them so their behaviour seems natural but then you add a new heuristic and everything breaks and it's never going to be good enough. I vibe coded all of this so it didn't take that much effort but I've had enough.

High insights:

Dude, columns in mid lane.

Damage over time effects on items are useful because they give you vision.

Characters designed to be junglers often have higher cooldowns and slower attack speed/less attack damage because they're expected to have jungle buffs.

Dude, the dynamic between melee and ranged junglers though.

The wigger talk comes naturally from the weed

It depends a lot on matchups because RPS strategies competing against one another is also "RPS-like". Matches between pure strategies generally only have numbers close to 100, 67, 50, 33, 0 in the results. So I'll let agents choose between multiple strategies at random each round with fixed probability.

There is a clear strongest strategy, which is an oracle that predicts the opponent's strategy and counters it. Within 100-game rounds the oracle can even get decent accuracy predicting composite strategies. The oracle cannot predict the strategy of other oracles because it creates the same infinite problem from werewolf belief prediction. It might be considered unfair that the oracle knows the list of possible strategies in advance though, I'm not sure how you would divide the type space without allowing this.

If you pick at random you can never lose to anything, but you also can't get an advantage against anything. So picking randomly is simultaneously the worst strategy and the second best strategy because it can't lose to the oracle.

 No.170125

>>170124
Has any top-down view attempted batman crime vision yet

 No.170126

>>170124
A linear story that encourages the reader to make notes and solve the mystery themselves feels more than interactive enough to me as a player. You can have side routes and bad ends, but I don't think anything fundamentally non-linear can work because the player could learn too much by chance.

 No.170127

Also in Ace Attorney, the apparent interactivity made me less interested in thinking about and engaging with the mystery, because in order to support that interactivity it becomes necessary for the player to rigidly follow along with each step of logic and present evidence in order. But it was fun for other reasons

 No.170128

>>170126
The story is really about the characters and the crimes are, at best, there to reflect on and test the relationships between the characters, which is tough because there also need to be decent puzzles. The original idea was that I could just cop out on the gameplay and have it be a strangely interactive story when needed, but I'd sure like to have puzzles still…

>>170127
Yeah, the fun with Ace Attorney is it uses that rigid structure to mess with the players expectations and get them to play along with the story even when the actions lead to undesirable outcomes.

 No.170129

Also it's kind of annoying because it's not my intent to make it like The Silver Jiken but the similarities keep cropping up. :lindy:
Most of the ideas came from some dreams I had years ago so I guess its just embedded into me at this point. Strangely enough, the first dream was "holy shit a sequel to Ghost Trick", but the actual gameplay was too abstract to bring into reality.

 No.170130

>>170129
It's fine to use it as compost since lots of Japanese classics use, like, Twin Peaks as synthesis component to start with

 No.170131

>>170128
>The original idea was that I could just cop out on the gameplay and have it be a strangely interactive story when needed, but I'd sure like to have puzzles still…
I think that's the way to go. I don't have any ideas on how to design puzzles since it's hard, but there could be something you could add that's unique to your story which could justify gameplay.

One example of what NOT to do is AITSF which has these awful abstract mind reading segments with barely any relation to anything, the game would be better if it was just a VN.

 No.170132

>>170131
I figure half of the "puzzles" are just figuring out the narrative itself, which could easily turn out absolutely horrible but I'll simply not make it bad :job4unc:

 No.170133

Walked and procrastinated and I've come to the realization I don't really need to have several individual open-and-close cases. There just needs to be tasks. They could be individual things or pieces of a larger case. It makes more sense for the characters to be brought onto various jobs to handle specific things instead of managing the whole investigation, anyways.

I am slightly ambivalent about also being Etna.

I'm too tired to do my due diligence with Ulala pics. I could pawn it off on MEX or someone but… :neet:

I know that it was probably a bountiful harvestu today but I'm tuckered from… not much. :workingstiff:

I got Link Between Worlds for my 3DS but my local Gamestop is basically a Switch store with Kirby and Sanrio everywhere. They mentioned two stores for "retro" games (one of which sells N64 and Gamecube stuff, mostly) which made me feel old because the 3DS and Vita are "retro" now. Remind me to go back to see if they still have the Castlevania during Chrimbus.

I got 2 (two) pics anyway. But man, am I tired. I can't be the sushi buffet, can it? :deibu:

That being said, it's weird to see AI slop and warnings about generative AI in big budget mainstream commercials.

That being said, Christmas With The Kranks does live up to its reputation. It does feel like a nightmare that you can't wake up from and it gives me second-hand anxiety. They should use that shit in Guantanamo Bay to induce psychosis.
