I know it's slightly misleading to call her "my Gen-X sister" because she only barely squeezes in at the last year but come the SMURF on, this is the most Gen-X shit I've seen. What is up with them and skulls? Gen-X seems to love skulls, especially those of the Punisher variety. :pikkard:

But legitimately, unironically, there was definitely a split and I'm sure DBDR talked about this. All of the girls (aside from one who was retarded/severely autistic or something) were like "Oh, yeah, I'm outgoing, have a decent friend group, have hobbies and skillsets, and do well with studying and school, I just occasionally cut myself or try to OD on stupid bullshit that'd never work when I get to a rare emotional extreme" contrasted with "I tried to burn my house down" and "I literally don't leave the bed and do nothing all day" (le me) and "I'm schizophrenic; I hear voices and see things" and juvenile delinquents. Granted, there were some female juvenile delinquents (blacks) but for the most part, all of the girls were more "unstable" but definitely further on the end of functional and they sort of thrived in a psych ward environment which I think might create a bad behavioral loop but this isn't really like that while the guys were more "stable" but had very more severe issues.

I wouldn't talk about this so authoritatively but I have a decade of experience and I'm sure my female friend would back me up to an extent from the opposite perspective. :idlehand:

Clown demon. The demon part is important. He plays MEAN tricks and his mix-ups are truly DEVILISH.

Context?

Still complete kino after all these years, anyway.

I want a DP3 where it's just FYM/Zach being a cool guy, doing cool things. Just make him the Dante of detectives. Then again, I'm trying to think of how you would build DEEP gameplay around that and my brain is just going to Dark Dreams Don't Die which isn't ideal….

:prose:
America has created a "civilisation" that represents an exact contradiction of the ancient European tradition. It has introduced the religion of praxis and productivity; it has put the quest for profit, great industrial production, and mechanical, visible, and quantitative achievements over any other interest. It has generated a soulless greatness of a purely technological and collective nature, lacking any background of transcendence, inner light, and true spirituality. America has built a society where man becomes a mere instrument of production and material productivity within a conformist social conglomerate.

My thoughts on it have really changed over time. After my first attempt, I felt disappointed when I woke up, but largely felt like myself. After the second attempt, I had a big breakdown. By the time of third attempt, I felt nothing when it failed. I kind of stopped feeling in general. I've spoken about it here before, but I don't recommend it. It's caused me to live way more self-destructive than before. Now I live like a miserable bug without an ounce of dignity as a human. I suppose hardship caused me to throw that away. I'm not trying to preach to you. It's just a terrible thing to live with, and I think acting on it makes it worse. If you're feeling hopeless, you're probably in dire need of a new environment.

I’m worn out hearing people moan, “Our grandparents could buy a house on one paycheck, but now we can’t even afford rent on two!”

Yeah, maybe because Grandma wasn’t dropping half her income on $14 iced lattes and avocado toast shaped like art projects. Back then, if they wanted coffee, they boiled it at home in a dented pot. It tasted like burnt rubber and regret — but it woke you up and cleaned your pipes.

And Grandma wasn’t “out to brunch.” You think she had time for mimosas and hashtags? She was making something called whatever’s left in the fridge and feeding six people with it.

Don’t even start with Uber Eats. You think Grandpa was out here paying $38 to have a burger delivered three blocks away? Please. He grilled mystery meat on a rusted barbecue, and everyone called it dinner.

Now people cry about being broke while sitting in a house full of gadgets. Two SUVs in the driveway, six streaming services, three air fryers, and matching tattoos that cost more than their light bill. You think Grandpa had a tattoo? He did. It said “Korea, 1951,” and it came with trauma, not Instagram likes.

And the kids—Lord help us. “We can’t make ends meet, but Brayden needs the new iPhone!” No, he doesn’t. You’re handing an $1100 device to a child who still eats crayons and forgets to flush.

When we were kids, there was one phone. It hung on the wall like a family relic. The cord stretched just far enough for you to whisper secrets before someone yelled, “Get off, I need to make a call!” And guess what? We lived.

The TV? One. In the living room. With three channels and a dial that clicked like a safe. And if Dad wanted to watch bowling, you were a fan of bowling, end of story.

Now there’s a flat screen in every room, the baby’s got an iPad, the BARKBEAST’s got a camera, and everyone’s wondering why they can’t afford rent.
Because you’re living like rock stars on retail salaries, that’s why.

Grandpa wasn’t leasing Teslas or buying $12 smoothies called “Green Zen Awakening.” He drove a truck that coughed smoke, rattled like a storm, and smelled like oil and hard work.

They lived within their means. Whatever Grandpa brought home on Friday — that’s what they had. They weren’t keeping up with the Joneses; they were keeping the lights on.

So yeah, Grandpa bought a house on one salary. But he also didn’t have a gym membership, three delivery apps, and emotional support crystals on his nightstand. His only support system was Grandma, who told him to quit whining and mow the yard.

Nowadays, everyone’s broke, anxious, and “manifesting abundance” while ordering tacos on DoorDash for the fourth time this week.

It’s not the economy — it’s the lifestyle.

Wake up, turn off your subscriptions, make your own coffee, and maybe—just maybe—you’ll smell the truth.
