>>14384>(I'll play D3 next year to form an opinion on Mao/Hero scrub)I was very surprised by D3. People don't talk about it very much, but it has some of my favorite characters, especially Mao and Raspberyl. It also has gameplay mechanics that have never returned. The Sakura Wars game director talking about the 30th anniversary reminded me that
Sega spent a ton of money on a Sakura Wars gacha developed by Delight Works of FGO fame that only lasted like 3 months. The highlight of that whole ordeal was internal info from Delight Works getting leaked where they were saying that they the developers were the reason FGO was popular and that people would play whatever had their name on it.

Spoilers for an oldass half-parodic game, but
Disgaea 2's heavily foreshadowed twist is that Rozalin's personality as the overlord's oujo daughter is a false memory construct implanted by Zenon to keep her sealed and docile
Worst ending has the TRUE DEMONS sealed in Rozalin released upon her death, possessing Adell, who hulks out and promptly devours his sibling
Normal end has you hug her back to oujo mode (player's perspective of normal) and promptly ends
But then shouldn't there be an original overwritten girl? What's her story?

>>14535>But then shouldn't there be an original overwritten girl? What's her story? So
What happened is that Zenon reincarnated as a child of the Snow Clan that Yukimaru and Fubuki are from. I assume Zenon reincarnated herself as a baby inside a woman from the Snow Clan, and there is art of this mother. She even appears as the art for the Omega Ice spell in D3. Disgaea RPG also has art of Snow Clan Rozalin with black hair. Anyway, that's the story of the original overwritten girl. Zenon reincarnated herself as a new person in a new world. No.14539

I gave you a smurfing example to see how jarring it is for you not pick on his politics; I never implied you liked his plots, I implied you tolerated his gay liberal political grandstanding for some reason. Lucas has explicitly, repeatedly stated that Star Wars, and Episode 6 in particular, is an analogy for the "anti-imperialist" (communist anti-western and anti-American) conflict and that the Empire is an analogy for America, the Empire is an analogy for Richard Nixon, and the Ewoks are explicitly an analogy for the Viet Cong.
Now, you could make an argument that Avatar is the same, but Star Wars has ALWAYS been about "America le bad, plucky and heroic (communist) revolutionaries le good", with a sheen of World War 2 over it to make it more palatable to the boomers. Lucas is absolutely, positively, an enemy of the West.
Maybe I don't give Avatar the amount of shit that it deserves, but it nowhere on the same level of cultural phenomenon that Star Wars is (Cameron is better know for his other works), so naturally I disparage Star Wars more.

>>14822It literally, unironically does not matter. The only clear through-line in the Lucas movies is the narrative of Space Jesus. Hitler's right-hand man redeems himself and goes to Heaven because of his love of his family. When most people say they like Star Wars, a lot of the time what they really mean is they like A New Hope (even if they protest that The Empire Strikes Back is their favorite) and the personal drama of Darth Vader (him only getting Team Rocket'd in the first movie is probably the sole factor in there being successful sequels.)
People don't identify The Empire as America and most adults hate the Ewoks. People see The Empire as Nazi Germany which is why it's loosely thrown around by soys when arguing online. And people had been pejoratively throwing around the word Nazi since the hippies and beatniks first touched bare feet to soil.
Lucas can say inspiration this and inspiration that but there's a lot going on in Star Wars (especially, the Prequels), but the emotional core (or lack thereof) is what people pay attention to. If you want to call it propaganda, it is completely useless propaganda that doesn't and has never worked. It gaining your ire is then completely arbitrary; it being incredibly popular, then, doesn't matter.
If you want even further proof, look at the ("Legends", obviously) EU, clumsy political allegories are rare (and the existing ones are diluted by new information.) What there IS a lot of is seemingly irredeemable characters getting redemption arcs (for better or worse.) The character of Star Wars as a gestalt is overwhelmingly sentimental, not political.
>I don't give Avatar the amount of dung that it deserves, but it nowhere on the same level of cultural phenomenon that Star Wars is (Cameron is better know for his other works)>If I had to personally write a condemnation of every tinseltown pinko and post it on Megidochan, I'd eat up all the server space with text posts alone. It's all just proof that your word carries no weight because what it is (political subtext will always triumph any other subtext and even regular context) and (much more importantly,) what it's done has no bearing. In order of Woodstock colors, this is how I think the skill-level for competitive games generally goes if they attract players in relatively controlled "bursts". First, you have the initial players, who learn at a fixed rate. Then you have the slightly newer players that are initially checked by the older players but eventually hone on an aspect of the meta and exponentially increase their skill level from that and continuing to refine a specific skillset. Then you have the third wave of players who must adapt to the Blue and Purple players and they improve exponentially multiple times as they learn fundamentals, the meta, and the counter-meta. If a game progresses like this, then the GREENHORNS stand no chance and after a linear learning curve, they drop off in gradual improvement significantly. The last influx of players isn't demonstrated because it might as well not exist. These players are even slower in their linear growth and are matched up against the greenhorns who don't know things well and are inconsistent. This subset of the playerbase does not improve and will exist in a transient state with players coming and going; eventually, they will stop coming and the playerbase will naturally filter itself and die out. Greenhorns will naturally stick around content with routinely getting curbstomped and, in turn, curbstomping (by proxy or on an even newer, fetal player), they will only start to leave when the "transient playerbase" dries up completely.

It came to mind that some (I won't say all) of the inaccuracies might be intentional since we started off with the idea of le subversive villain re-imagining from a classic story which always just always just outright changes major parts of the story and setting to make it "work" since we're on Re-imagining Villains 112(!) now. This implies some level of self-awareness and I'm not sure why Tatsuya would even do this other than ironybro shielding against being accused of anything more extreme than alt-lite (since he's afraid to say or portray a lot of things) I guess he's always been a FREEZE PEACH advocate and him going "Well, this is what Hollywood would NEVER do" might appeal to that part of his brain even still after all these years (with the actual content being more or less irrelevant to the point.)
It'd be a baffling choice, sure, but a lot of this is already baffling given that this specific arc has lasted like a third of the year already.

Do you just pull from the RPGs? I still don't see how that'd avoid it turning into a weird The Thief and the Cobbler situation that children would hate.
To anyone legitimately mad about Mario being silly or dumb, I have to ask what they actually expected when they heard "A Mario movie is being made."
The best point these people make is that Girlboss!Peach is slightly tiresome because you could just have her still be the damsel, but more apathetic or sardonic or whatever (like Paper Peach walking out of her cage in Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam.
) or have her constantly escaping (like Paper Mario) and being comically high-spirited and nonplussed about it failing. Maybe give her a lot of patience but an explosive temper. It's less broad comedic archetype but it's closer to (some) of the games. I don't know why there seems to be so much emphasis on ACKSHUN but I guess you kind of run out of jokes about Mario being Mario in the first movie.
I guarantee people would have preferred pizza pasta kiddy cartoonland nonsense even though the critics would obviously still pan it.
I don't know if the kids like it as much as they could and the fanboys are dying on the hills of it not respecting the source material (which is completely nebulous and comically subjective) or defending it because it has references4thefans. No matter what, a Mario movie is going to be lowbrow junk, I think they made a movie that was more popular than the execs than the public but… it's still popular enough with the public. I think drawing a line in the sand about this being a battleground for the culture war or some death knell for the artistic integrity of interpretations is dumb. Nintendo, alone, if they had infinite resources, would never make a movie adaptation of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. They'd be sillier and it'd probably be an original story.

It should be the opposite or have the caveat of one of the wives having many children so you get a setting full of many-mothered children, the social implications of which I think would be interesting.

Beyblades were these things as kids that we had and thought we thought were cool but even as kids we were like "This is going to die out so fast" and then it did but somehow it's held on by a thread and has made a resurgence?
Also, this might be my physics illiteracy but I don't really think the little ripcords to manipulate your tops are all that good of an idea objectively speaking since whatever movement you're doing with it is causing friction and then you're manipulating it to move a certain way which certainly slows it down and I just can't possibly imagine it being advantageous to be "aggressive" except in weird edgecases so what you have are just… tops… that occasionally hit each other… I don't get it.
"Apparently" there's intricate engineering going into their designs so that's something, I guess.
