In that screenshot it's subtle enough, although 'amassing' is a bit much. The register thing goes way, way too far in the rest of the game though and sounds stupid just about everywhere. The script also generally uses too many words and unnecessarily long words.

I suspect this is the fault of the TRICKSTERlators, the game is probably a lot better in Japanese. The dub which I experienced for the game's intro while I couldn't access the settings was also horrible.

"Fan favorite" show vs. show the CEO (forma de female) refuses to bring back.

I would post the Smiling Friends numbers but they're also pretty bad buuuuuuuut… They vary a lot.

Tuca & Bertie started with hovering around .30 and 4.0 but the third season was pic related.

That being said, I do hate how every female-piloted comedy is "Mild-mannered neurotic and her WAAAAAAACKY party animal friend!" Yes, this is a time-tested formula and you can word it as vaguely as you fucking want to apply it to other things but it is the most omnipresent and literal with woman show. It's about adulting and how adulting sucks (sheesh, so cringe!) and how fun it is to not be adulting (wacky!)

Current! Rick and Morty hovers around .30-.40

Localisation issues in FE were mostly woke censorship (making everyone a feminist, removing fanservice, changing character personalities, platonic marriage), and I wasn't aware of these issues until I saw infographics online. UO might do similar things too idk, but the majority of prose being nigh-unreadable cringe (UO's main sin) was not a problem FE localisations had imo.

The design problem you mention is real though, and why most support conversations seem bland and pointless. I think Three Houses did a good job, but most other games in the series don't have that amount of lore and backstory to work with.

After reading ever slightly more, I won't deny that Japan does seem to be a hotspring for New Religious Movements especially per capita. The list is fairly sparse but the number of members does raise eyebrows. Probably sprung off the backs of hikikomori and housewives. I think my original conjecture is still partially true for some of them (the American West coast and South America taking up the majority of the followers) but I also think it's important to note how many of them are essentially nondenominational Buddhism or treated as a "complimentary belief system" that isn't mutually exclusive with other religions (much like how most of Japan treats Buddhism and Shinto.) Still, stuff like Tenri-kyō can't be ignored.
(I did a highschool project on this so I'm forever and ever the expert and I hate that I was wrong. :nofair:)

America and India (mostly the North) are still the heads of NRMs, especially when it comes to things that aren't just the equivalent of "wweird christianity (though America has a ton of that) and not just because they're smurfing big. All I'm saying is that if I were to start a cult, I'd do it in… America…

South America is really interesting because it's a mix of regional religions, Catholicism, Pentecostalism, "cults of personality" (this kind of overlaps with everything else), and apparently far east New Religious Movements. Far more interesting than Africa which is mostly just regional religions mixed in with more mainstream missionary Christianity. It's not like the Philippines where they took Catholicism and added ghost demons everywhere. At least, not from what I've seen. Bleh, whatever. The point is that the future of South American religion will be really interesting to watch play out. :shikari:

Like, there's a fine line between "I try to keep my personal life separate" and "People are SMURFING INSANE to speculate or have any interest in the life of the creator of something they really like" running in tandem with "I HATE MY FANS" and "I HATE MY CRITICS." One is personal discomfort while the other is chessbrain where you don't seem to grasp that you're the public personality now and people can and will say all the weird, "invasive" (where it's not actually invasive because it's baseless or it's not actually invasive because it's public knowledge or it's not actually invasive because you shared it yourself. In Andrew Hu¢¢ie's specific case, there has never been clandestine knowledge he's shared in secret that was exposed at his expense for no reason. Anything-less-than-public that has been leaked was used to illustrate dishonesty or malpractice.) shit you already say about celebrities.

I don't like how this game shows you the exact battle forecast with pre-rolled RNG. When initiating attack you can dumbly swap between adjacent units and check the outcome rather than strategically using what you understand to be the most suitable unit. This incentivises moving your units in a big clump so you get more potential rolls to swap into. Also there are linked assist ranged attacks which also alter the battle outcome, which becomes annoying to check all possibilities especially when there are multiple. I find the units which can do assist attacks to be overpowered because of this battle forecast feature.

The AI priority/condition system probably gets more interesting later in the game, it seems cool but right now my units don't have enough abilities or ability points to do anything useful with it.

It's dumber because you just send a blob of units at the enemy and then the game allows you to switch around nearby units and tells you which one would be optimal to perform the attack. Rose Lalonde Witch of Space Part 15:
So this is a new line of thought that I've never heard anyone investigate partially because it's heresy to ever imply the great switcharoo theory, much less think about its implications. But wouldn't it make sense for the Knight player (though I really mean Time but we'll get to that) to be the Server player of the Space player, rather than the other way around? Given the nature of frog-breeding (which I assume was always more or less the nature of genesis myth given the paracosm of SuperFrog), it would make sense for the Server player to be Time, right? With the way the game is initially structured, you would think that The Forge is another construct you'd have to create or supplement with grist- it seems like there are these constructs like John's giant wind organs or the Beta Mesa (no, it probably wasn't originally intended for the Scratch but it was probably important for another reason) which are required to be used to beat the game. It's inefficient to beat around the bush so I'll explain things plainly. Rose and GREEN's planets were swapped because their mythological roles were swapped, Rose would have gotten Land of Frost and Frogs (or something similar) and GREEN would have gotten Land of Light and Rain. Rose's planet would be for frog-breeding, Dave's would involve time-travel to breed the correct frog, and GREEN's planet needs The Forge to be ignited with the tadpole of the genesis frog (and probably utilizes lotus capsules and other frog mechanisms which are conspicuously forgotten about in the comic proper), and John's planet would redirect all the grist into The Ultimate Alchemy.

All of the environments tie neatly into the classic elements and the Kid's existing houses. John's winds lead into rounded mounds with high winds (that he eventually redirects), Rose's rain turns to snow (which she is often depicted in post-1407; vestigial brainworm or just a coincidence?) which she eventually, well, we'll get to that, Dave's ash and molten debris form lava, and GREEN's land is completely flooded like her island eventually is in the future.
>But GREEN is Earth (Winter) and Rose is Water (Fall)
GREEN's planet would be covered in igneous rock like obsidian after The Forge erupts onto water. Yes, it's a little weird that the Water player gets Snow instead of the Winter one but let's address the elephant in the room.
>Play The Rain
I view this as an almost completely arbitrary hanger-on from the great switcharoo that makes almost zero sense in the comic proper and was probably added by Hu¢¢ie for intrigue but then he couldn't clearly work it into anything so he threw it out. What would "playing the rain" do on Rose's planet in the comic proper? It's already an ocean and the planet doesn't rain, you can't exactly manipulate rain like wind so what would rain do? Flood the remaining rest of the planet? I think "Playing The Rain" would have been Rose creating rain to melt the snow to create a rainforest ("Rainbow Falls" sounds nice and tropical) for frog-breeding. That's it. It all makes much more sense. If you have a high level of skepticism towards any part of this, I must ask you "What do you think 'Play The Rain' meant in the original comic? What did Hu¢¢ie unironically mean by this?" If you say that it didn't have a clear intended meaning, I'm already making that concession, I'm just adding what was the probable context because nothing in the comic is completely random. Nothing in general is completely random.
>You must now talk about the trolls and their context
Hu¢¢ie clearly wrote himself into a corner with having Aradia do so much pl0t device shit given that she's both involved in frog intrigue and time travel. The Alpha trolls' session stands out as one of the most baffling parts of the comic to me. Why did Karkat choose Tavros over Eridan when he seems to hate him and when he has a somewhat functional relationship with Eridan? Why did Equius choose Eridan before Feferi? Why did Karkat choose Vriska instead of Sollux? Some of these probably have answers that I don't remember but I don't care, this is all needlessly contrived ("durrr hurr thats the point") and ultimately incongruent with character relationships. (Yes, I know they're also tied to each troll's moon but that was also semi-arbitrary.) I don't think there's a single person who can tell you the trolls' entry order from memory. Hu¢¢ie himself couldn't even seem to do so. That's all to say that by the time that we get around to this idea that the Beta Kids' session was always doomed to fail and uh, back to frogs, that we barely cared about client-server relationships beyond it creating a SHITTY TWIST through the Mobius Double Reacharound. Hu¢¢ie had to limit his options to whoever smurfed up being the Genesis Frog being Karkat (because of his name, the compulsion was too strong) and someone on his team (which means it couldn't be Aradia, the Time player, so instead it's a Knight™ who unlike all of the other classes doesn't just tend to do something but has a very special role for some reason. We can talk about why Hu¢¢ie felt like he couldn't repeat Aspects but I think it goes without saying that it was mostly maximalism sitting in the way of that.) and for a variety of character reasons (which includes both bias and some degree of logic) and probably because it makes logical sense for the game, the last player in the loop, Kanaya, was chosen (GREEN is also the last player to enter; we should assume this is a hard rule, it'd make sense if it was, but dude, MOBIOUS DOUBLE REACHAROUND, lmao. In-universe, the trolls would have immediately realized it after Kanaya entered and they all entered around the same time so the amount of focus given to this shit is well and truly pointless. It's just needlessly convoluted for the reader experience, has glaring holes, and no real consequence other than it causes Sollux to "die." I really think that's it, that's the only direct consequence, is that Karkat forgets to help him enter because it was dumb and confusing- for the reader, even though I don't think it should have been for Karkat) That is to say that I think that the Knight-Space rule was an especially hackneyed and flippant writing decision and it's sad that that's one of the only hard rules we have for the Mythological Role system.

It's odd because if GREEN's world was consistent with her home (Skaia interconnection through frogs; Light as pre-existing constructs that travel for a pre-determined solution), it would have lead to a more seamless understanding of the extremely contrived conception of Light that is "Muh Alpha Timeline." Right now, it's a mishmash and retcons ontop of retcons. The more you think about le epic switcharoo, the less the comic makes sense and the sense that the comic could have made becomes more clear.

The problem has to do more with the people who encoded these in the first place. They probably set it up like the American blurays where it was English audio no subs (i.e. English is audio track 1), and if you want JP and subs, you have to pick them yourself even with VLC. The psg subs (probably ripped from the blurays), in my opinion, look worse than the .ass fansubs I got with the DVDs. They could at least have gone with nicer white subs instead of yellow. This experience is also teaching me what a nightmare subs can be since ffmpeg can't do anything with psg subs

Critical Role is definitely a big factor. I also, in willful, loving ignorance, blame 5e. 4e might have been retarded but it came out the way it did because there were so many cool, popular RPG videogames noble on D&D and ironically, 4e kind of coincided with the deathknell for that. The last time it was "cool" to like D&D was in the 2000s where frat bros were "into it" because of Dark Alliance. Now, well, still it's "cool", but, like, in a intriguing to a spectacled Arizona tea collegehoe way; "you must be sooooooooo creative." It's normalMOOR in a different form. Instead of the illusory counter-culture of EDGE D&D had in the 2000s, it's now the illusory counter-culture of theater kid bullshit with more consumerism and celebrity culture.

I will now fabricate a narrative. The mass rejection of 4e lead to the homebrew gestational state that kept the boring grognard OLD GUARD around but in their own bubble. So the hardcore, grittier players weren't in the market for 5e so the culture around it was different and it is, of course, relatively easy for noobs.

I think TTRPGs are kind of gay (this is personal bias, absolutely nothing else here is, of course) and Reddit (this is a very complex and serious angle and I don't want to talk about it) in general so I don't think there's anything in 5e D&D in particular that makes it super special or anything, it's just the most popular one (and fake non-mainstream is Reddit, the strongest pulse of "just not close enough" to the mainstream is where you find Redditors.)

You must accept that Warhammer (especially 40k) is very close to the Unholy Trinity and if you pick one thing from the Unholy Trinity and Warhammer 40k, you have a 90% chance of getting a stereotypical Redditor (or an Asmongold- that's your 10%.) I accept that Star Wars is also fairly Reddit (though I care much, much less about it than you probably believe. I enjoyed my KoTORs, I think the EU was fascinating in its stupidity, I like A New Hope but my feelings on the other movies are a lot more complicated to say the least, and I generally view George Lucas as an oafish albeit endearing manchild. We can :spat: on whether the political denouncement of him is particularly learned from a different angle since I thought about it a little if you want. :innocent:)

I was thinking about Deadlock's design and how the cast is generally "incohesive" and the fundamental systems (ABILITY, MELEE, GUN) are too committal, especially combined with the MOVEMENT (which allows for sporadic bursts but is also, mostly very committal.) I think the lack of restrictions on the character design (because of these systems) will ultimately lead to a high-gun (too much gun? Just go someone who does spirit damage with gun), high mobility, high "pick" meta that will cannibalize the game's viable cast (I think this is why Bebop was preemptively nerfed into the ground and is UP.) And then I think this will smurfing nuke the playerbase. This is coming from someone who's absolute dogshit at the game so take it with a grain of salt. Again, I'm putting my money in and saying that this game will not be commercially/casually successful (again, the closed beta system is a disaster for such a highly competitive game) and its meta will probably inspire imitators of "arena shooter" type hero shooters (narrowing down from the nebulous "uuuuuuh FPS with abilities")

I don't think these statistics are proof that it's bleeding players, I just think it's a lack of proof of a "strong enough" core playerbase. I understand that you can interpret this data in the complete opposite way. The baseline does appear to go up slightly (but it's always declining) and there isn't a strong enough correlation to say that the player spikes always have diminishing returns; there is no doubt that it hasn't reached its peak yet. But a consistent playerbase is going to unironically filter its biggest peak because "what the smurf how are people so good at this game already"

What I hate about Deadlock is that it's a clustersmurf of mechanics that all ultimately just amount to creating very strong individual character fantasy which I think is, ironically, very counter-intuitive because it can lead to incredibly polarizing match-ups and rounds (though shit always seems to drag into 30+ minutes no matter what; good job at maintaining that element of the MOBA, I guess.) Yes, the most fun games are often the less balanced ones because it means different characters can do different things but you have to ask yourself if it's worth it if the things they share create a clear hierarchy (because it's so important) and your "different thing" is worth the half-hour of your life you're investing where you can be absolutely dumpstered and taken out of the game. The latter is a MOBA problem and it remains to be seen if the item system is comprehensive enough to solve this issue (I couldn't say on this even though all of this is admittedly, mostly conjecture.) I just think it's a balance nightmare. I would go into an aside about how I think it's easier to be (meaningfully) "caught out" than a typical MOBA but I don't have much confidence in that talking point.

I asked a BlueBuddy about how to have abilities, fighting game mechanics, and shooting. He said to basically just make GunZ: The Duel. And I guess that's true.

Animation cancelling, sprint (no stamina), double-tap sprint to dash, crouch (turns into slide when sprinting), fire gun, switch, melee (hold for stronger), block (hold for parry) and install a Holy Trinity system where melee disables guns, guns disable abilities, and abilities disable melee. Characters that are melee focused must use their guns to get high APM movement (like rocket-jumping), characters that are ability focused must use melee (like a slash-and-dash. I'm up in the air on whether it can be either of what they aren't focused on depending on the character instead of just one of the two. I think this is best because it means ability users immediately swap to counter guns so it's more back-and-forth), and characters that are gun focused must use abilities. Put boostpads (like Quake) and launchers on the map like a racing game so neutral is more easily contested and isn't as reliant on min-maxing movement (for macro.) There, everyone has to use everything, moves around like crazy, and one playstyle doesn't envelop the meta because there are fundamental reasons to use everything on every character. That's not to mention items. I don't think it's a perfect idea, in fact, the game sounds very frustrating to me but the problem I'm presented with isn't one with pretty solutions. The problem is that it's "incohesive" and that's not inherently a problem to anyone who isn't disturbed by a lack of elegance. But the consequences of the lack of cohesion are, probably, from what I think, legitimate problems for the game and its health both competitively and casually.

But yeah, I got sent a tip video on how to be better at Deadlock after a friend watched me get shittalked and hard lose 2/3 games (one game had someone say to report me; this shit doesn't even happen in DoTA 2) trying new toons just to kill time.
>90% of the advice is general MOBA advice which I instinctively more or less "know" but I don't apply because I'm checked out because of X, Y, and Z. It's just time-gated latent knowledge. Also, DoTA 2/Deadlock are more committal than League but that's not especially relevant compared to me not understanding what I'm looking at and what I'm doing.
>Watch another video for his general feelings; basically zero complaints about the central game design
I don't think anyone really "gets" where I'm coming from. I know I'm going to get my skull kicked in over and over but I don't know if actually improving is going to lead to gamestates I enjoy as much as League. (I think it's a hard "no" for DoTA 2 but I'm still fine with dicking around in it. Deadlock feels a lot worse to suck at which is frankly an achievement.) It's actually still a "Maybe" but I don't think my feelings about how it's designed will be changed if I git gud. Maybe I should stick to it just to see if I can prove myself wrong. :noanswer:

Anyway, Neon Prime was a hilariously terrible name, the jungle camps are boring, and snipers shouldn't be in hero shooters. (Also, I guess what I suggested is partially in the game because there are vents and I didn't know enough about the map before watching that video to acknowledge that but let's just say there should be more. :miss:)

The worst thing about cardslop is that legitimately interesting card archetypes (not to mention systems but this complaint is system agnostic) are hard to design. Most cardslop devs just think up "Wot if it was a combo deck that generates infinite advantage when you X, innit" like 10x and then the "emergent" gameplay is that your cards lack any synergy until you get the one run that plays itself. :de:

I guess Deadlock does truly qualify as a MOBA and crossed the threshold of just "a hero shooter"- though it is still that- now that we have a proper level system in it (which is a baffling decision to me. It makes me feel like Valve has no idea what they're doing or have such an extensive vision for the game that the closed beta model lasting half a decade is because they're carefully preemptively balancing literally everything before implementation for the proper release. Maybe both? Sorry, I just had to get that out of the way because I felt it was notable. :vidya:)

Are you basically complaining that they nerfed the bebop bombs because "no fun allowed" so you have to build gun now? That's lame and maybe the design is going in that direction, I don't know enough to say. I tried to avoid the gun heroes because I can't aim, there are definitely some heroes where you don't have to use their gun on enemy heroes outside of the laning phase, so I don't think the game is too shooting-focused.

I think there is a problem with melee items, which seems to be a marginal mechanic used by only a few heroes and it can be too easily countered by parrying, I'm not sure how to fix it. I don't think there's a similar problem with spirit though.

No, it's just that he's both the statistically the worst character in general and THE hook champion (which are huge to League's competitive and Pudge is, well, Pudge in DoTA 2.)
>there are definitely some heroes where you don't have to use their gun on enemy heroes outside of the laning phase, so I don't think the game is too shooting-focused.
I think they have disproportionate impact due to the intense movement focus and frequency of skirmishes. I think the game is a race between the movement tech and the aiming, mostly, and that guns will win out over abilities and (especially) melee. I think their uptime in lane is a huge benefit (if MOBA knowledge taught me anything, winning lane is everything) and their ability to "commit" to a kill is stronger than ability users (which obviously depend on CDs and often, more strict positioning.) I don't know how to articulate this right now. I might be too tired. :milk:

Moreover, I think it will be an emergent problem with the playerbase. I think the game will mostly attract shooting fans who want a curbstomp simulator and that will shift the game's meta.

>You must accept that Warhammer (especially 40k) is very close to the Unholy Trinity and if you pick one thing from the Unholy Trinity and Warhammer 40k, you have a 90% chance of getting a stereotypical Redditor

Perhaps. GW certainly seems to be taking the pro-woke route with regard to the community, and groups like "Sigmarxism" exist, though that's possibly more to do with the left's habit of attempting hostile takeovers on every subculture.

However, as I said before, Warhammer will never be truly accepted by Reddit, because it's already an outlier in that it has "Nazi Coded" characters and factions being portrayed as sympathetic, which is incredibly rare and definitely NOT accepted by the ninnyplex.
The vast majority of works with Nazi and Nazi-Coded Characters (evoking the Nazis is very easy to do, just have some like, uniforms and helmets and eagles and vertical red banners and stuff) have their sole purpose to be cardboard targets for the heroic and plucky Resistance to bravely knock down and look cool while doing it.
This is how it is in Star Wars, this is how it is in Wolfenstein, this is how it is in V for Vendetta, this is how it is in DC and Marvel comics.
If there is a Nazi (coded) character that IS portrayed as an actual human being and not just a meat drone for Captain America to kill, the redditor will either ignore it if they can (in the case of the still antagonistic but more sympathetic Helghast from Killzone), outright side with the evil alien bugs/demons from hell/whatever the NCCs are fighting against in the name of Media Literacy (as in the case of the Federation from Starship Troopers - the originals from the book weren't intentionally Nazilike, rather being more inspired by the US, but being militaristic and somewhat Roman-inspired is enough for a left-winger to consider you a Nazi), or they will outright reject the work as Evil varlet Garbage (like Twitter hoodweebs are doing with JJBA due to the presence of Stroheim).

Since Warhammer 40k has more in common with the latter works than the former, the redditor will either side with someone like the Tau (fitting, since they're a Chinese coded faction and sinophilia seems to be growing among the ninnyplex) or hate 40k but join the fandom solely to set up a "reverse gatekeeping" operation like they're doing with Frieren, solely to ruin the franchise.

>I accept that Star Wars is also fairly Reddit

Star Wars is much more reddit than Warhammer. Though I don't blame you for liking the original trilogy, I enjoyed it as a child too. And it IS basically the equivalent of a crack cocaine logic bomb crafted for maximum appeal. At the very least, anyone can enjoy the cool laser fights.

>My understanding is that the most gun-focused heroes are carries with weak lane presence
If this is true then I haven't observed it and there are some obvious exceptions that I can think of. Their biggest weakness is that their main form of pressure has to be split between minions, ORB, and enemy. I should specify that I think fast reloaders/high clip are the fundamental biggest threats to the future meta (and also what defines them as a GUN character to me beyond scalings or whatever.) But that split in pressure is different from having no real pressure (or the same problem) like ability users. Their biggest boon is that they can hit you with one thing and get you to half health because jajaja DoTA 2 balance philosophy of abilities. A lot of the cooldowns in this game are extremely long (again, DoTA 2 DNA; very committal) which makes ability users also very item dependent. IDFK how the new level system affects things.
>I trust Valve not to totally sideline spirit heroes
I think it's inevitable given the structure of the map and the general progression system.
>I think the item system is fine so far.
I've reserved my thoughts on the item system and I think it is "very good" in the sense that DoTA 2's item system is "very good" in that you have an answer for everything. I don't know if it's enough to leverage the hodgepodge cast when everything is so committal.

This is a game where you can not dilly dally (which ironically makes wasting the enemies' time very powerful and yes, you can do insane roll-outs to juke for 30s to safety but they're very precise and specific and character-dependent. They're kind of the exception when I say things are COMMITTAL. Ignoring those long-ass chases which are ironically, committal in their own way- for the enemy- even though, yes, it is a pivot which makes it different from how I usually use the word, fights have a tendency to drag on, even past death timers which leads to the equivalent of level 1 invades for the entire course of the game.) I think the characters that can commit the best are always going to be the character shooting their gun the most. I haven't seen a single dedicated burst design in the game (correct me if I'm wrong) where X makes Y do 6 gorillion more damage if you hit both in succession (which is League design, granted) which is kind of confusing but I understand why they avoid it because it'd probably take over the game because PICKS. I just think that the pew-pews that can force the enemy's hand and also melt anyone OoP are a lot more valuable than any kind of rushdown ability user (though, granted, these aren't mutually exclusive.)

The more I talk, the less certain I become about my own position. I talk a lot about picks but now I'm kind of downplaying the characters built for them. I'm not so sure about anything now. :mml:

>All that other shit
You underestimate Redditors' capacity for irony which is strange. They are totally fine with authoritarianism if the creator makes it very clear it's le bad and we're just playing pretend and/or the setting is farcical and maximalist(like 40k and Starship Troopers.) Shit like the Starship Troopers game (where you play as the Federation) or Robocop game (where you play as… a robot cop) wouldn't exist otherwise.
>Star Wars is much more reddit than Warhammer.
goodman… I don't know how many of "those types" I've seen. Quirky "X FOR THE X GOD!! Y FOR THE Y THRONE!!" smurfers were and are probably still everywhere. Star Wars Reddit has only 9k more weekly contributors than Warhammer 40k (specifically) despite one being way larger and more mainstream and the other being a subset of a bigger series (Warhammer)
>Though I don't blame you for liking the original trilogy
Again, I said A New Hope alone specifically because I dislike retcons on principle (no, I don't believe Lucas) and The Empire Strikes Back doesn't really work as a solo movie- it needs to be a sequel and have a sequel and again, on principle, I don't really like that. I could rewatch it and maybe have stronger feelings for it but my heart lies with A New Hope. Which is the most disconnected from le Vietnam and Nixon inspirations and WAS the most popular one in the heyday of the Original Trilogy so
>That IS what he wants you to think
Except he doesn't. I have to fight back against this perception, still, because he does still care about his image. Otherwise, he wouldn't have brought up the political shit. I still think he is that and the Prequels are just objective proof. There's a ton of childish nonsense in those movies and the development of them had all these whimsically self-indulgent details that later got absorbed into the EU. (Asajj, my beloved.)

Now I was under a false assumption because I assumed all the Nixon and Vietnam shit came out in response to the Prequels being commentary on Bush and Lucas going "Well, it was always political" to deflect. It's unfortunate that I fact-checked myself.

All of this is, allegedly, wrong, because him talking about Nixon goes all the way back to 1981 (this is an anecdote without a real record. I would track down where this was first reported but that's too much effort.) and he wrote the Prequels before Bush things happened (according to a director.) I find this all very hard to believe but I guess I have to swallow it. :WASTED:

So I don't really have a new angle, I can just say that "Again, it's about Luke and Anakin" or I can say that being strongly against the Vietnam War doesn't make you anti-West but that would fall on deaf ears. To repeat, The Empire is just viewed as Nazi Germany, The Emperor is seen as Bush (in Prequels vision) if anyone (though Lucas said it was Cheney. Darth Vader Bush is a very funny thought.), the Ewoks are viewed as the Vietcong just because they're plucky fighters in a forest fighting against a more advanced army and nobody really thinks about the implications of that. It's very bad satire, especially considering that four of the six movies are, at best, kind of "weak."

Now, onto which is more Reddit, I think it's a hot contest but only because Disneed owns Stah Wahs now. It would be too mainstream before that or I guess, covertly mainstream (with a small, focused subculture) instead of largely being a focused subculture and lacked the (right?) consumerism to be Reddit. I can't decide, frankly, I think they both appeal to the primary instincts of Reddit which in large part is all the googoo gaagaa lore.
>>18275
On paper, yes, but it doesn't really have a strong online presence. I think Star Trek is ever so slightly too actually scientific and banal in its world-building for the "creative types." It's also too old. Though, granted, there is nu-Trek… :stress:

I kind of lump people who watch Lindelof-tier garbage shows into the same category. I don't really think there's a lot of Star Wars or Star Trek fans out there anymore; I just consider them to be Mystery Box fans. And yes, that's very Reddit.

Another big name is Dr. Who which I think is completely Reddit but also completely Tumblr. The venn diagram circles completely overlap there. Something that leans to Tumblr with overlap would be like, Buffy and something that leans to Reddit with overlap would be IDFK…

This is a pointless post. :pat:

Anyone else get a sense of nostalgia from stock classes and races in fantasy/sci-fi? It feels like THESE DAYS there's a lot of people that put a token effort into making some kind of unique spin on it, something so it's not completely generic but seeing an elf rogue or a dwarf with a warhammer and shield is very comfy. It reminds me of a simpler time of bargain bin genre gaming. Things that felt like they had no problem with being expendable, they have a certain charm that passion projects don't. I guess most people would consider this kind of paradoxical but really, you run the gamut with auteurs and you realize that championing individuality isn't so great because a lot of people are unbelievably dull and are as prone to completely copying things out of passion as a company would do out of cynicical profiteering and there's not much discernible difference in the end product. Anyway, OLD GAEM. :dreamy:

Starting DQ6 in 5 minutes or so https://twitch.tv/boigahs
This is the first game in the series I know practically nothing about (I guess I didn't know that much about 2, but uhhh it doesn't have much to begin with). I actually tried pirating the DS version as a kid when it came out but it had a really funny antipiracy measure and I stopped caring by the time it was patched.

Remember when Dr Comet accused the filthy gaijin of ripping all his kemono CDs (even though it was japs ripping them) and refused to release them in the west, then got caught reselling commissioned art in violation of contract because the CD he put it on hadn't been released in the commissioner's country?

Uh, "there's no reason not to just buy damage", "it's weird how many abilities are free-cast and not targeted given how mobile the game is and the DoTA 2 lineage" and "I hate the tiny particle effects with unclear range for my autoattacks. The visual clarity in this game is so ass." :sigh:

We should have really scraped the "beating a dead horse" sticky from RPGCodex. I'd log in to pull it but it has bullshit log-in requirements now. My long dead account LEVELED UP from my old posts getting upvoted though. I know I would I use it for basically every Tatsuya post.

Um, GILCHRIST ALARM!!!!!! Or is this okay because it doesn't have Christian undertones. I'm going to get pissed for the sake of everyone who doesn't because they have inconsistent standards.:mexikit:

Please ignore the cognitive dissonance of hyper-nationalist movements that claim that their country has been co-opted since forever but this is still uh, the OLD COUNTRY returning and definitely not them making shit up. It's new and excitingly different but definitely still rooted in tradition, you guise.
