EVANGELION ALERT

:
Wondering why all the vague and obfuscated stuff in Evangelion feels fun and deliberate while all the Mysery Boxisms in Woodstock feel contrived and like ways to force speculation. Other than the main plot not being written like complete shit, I'm struggling to come up with a good answer since there are still questions a thoughtful viewer would have when watching Evangelion that are plot essential and fairly grounded, not really something you should leave up to implication (Why was Gendo in the room with Lilith with Rei in EoE? I don't really understand that so it's the perfect example.) I guess a lot of stuff in Woodstock is delayed gratification where there's something you have basically no good explanation for (the Bunny in The Box) that you just kind have to wait to be explained while Evangelion has a ton of things that are never explained but just heavily implied. I feel comfortable in saying that most of the "heavily implied" stuff in Woodstock is gobbledygook and just fanon.
In general, what makes for good mystery and intrigue and what's actually just Mystery Box shit? I feel like it's a thinner line than most people think (especially people who hate Mystery Box shit)
MEX, you like INTRIGUE with your drama, right?

Woodstock Wiki really needs to get its shit together since it can't even remember basic Formspring answers.

To think of all the creative process shit that got nuked with MSPAF and nobody gives a
smurf (except Makin but he's Makin.) I guess this is the fandom being incurious because they aren't diligent with finding scraps.

>>31828>Why was Gendo in the room with Lilith with Rei in EoE?It's been while since I last watched EoE, but I can remember that Gendo was trying to initiate Third Impact by himself while in possession of Adam's soul through fusion with Rei/Lilith's soul. However, Rei no way dreg's him, and you already know the rest.
Regarding Woodstock, I wouldn't say I'm left confused about some of its subplots and plot-points because they lack explanation and aren't properly elaborated upon as much as that a lot of them just don't have a pay off. I guess I could ask questions such as "why is Aradia constantly changing personalities?", but that's still not as pressing as asking "what even was the point of this?"

No.31855
>>31843>but I can remember that Gendo was trying to initiate Third Impact by himself while in possession of Adam's soul through fusion with Rei/Lilith's soul. I mean, that's what I always assumed but he's using Adam (fused with Rei) which has the potential to wipe out humanity and "only Lilith" is what SEELE wanted. What's confusing is that he says "Let's go" and reacts negatively when Rei fuses with Lilith and I think he says "Third Impact is about to happen" verbatim as if it's negative and "I'm sorry, Shinji" You can assume that this reaction is because Rei is clearly rejecting him and his wish and
smurfing off (to Shinji to have him decide whether Third Impact happens.) But why did he need Adam for his "scenario"?
My understanding for why he could possibly need Adam is that he wanted Rei to fuse with Unit01 (since she has Adam in her and the Evangelions were born from Adam) and then he'd salvage the body fused with the soul from that and get Yui. Which is not Third Impact at all. It's probably some combination of these things that I don't understand. But if it was only the Evangelion, why did he have her in the Lilith room to begin with? Just to explain to her her true origins?
I'm exposing myself as a poseur.

>>31843>but that's still not as pressing as asking "what even was the point of this?"Granted, that's kind of what I get from a lot of Evangelion's mysteries but the somewhat meta takeaway is that it's mysterious because "None of this really matters; people will do anything to escape themselves" which I guess you can say applies to Woodstock too? But on a much more abstract level (since it's more the narrative itself and not mechanical details of the setting) and of course, very poorly.
