I think the general public usually gets sick of a general style of a specific person or group's sense of humor if it stays in pop culture too long. Of course you'll have your fans but I think that if a Dan Harmon show ran its course and burned to the ground, I don't think anyone would want to pick up a new show with a new premise by the same writers' room. I guess that's something people should realize. Humor is about expectations so it's a transitory thing. Comedies and humorists come and go.
The main strategy of "sticking" is by having some pathos in people's attachment to the characters. This is a Devilish trick and shouldn't be used for the sake of your soul.

I'm starting to understand how important compressed sound is for some kinds of music. Some things sound better compressed. >>31020If I see someone playing that, I can just assume they have a shitty sense of humor. They're not decently big investments of time. I don't think there's a game out there that's poorly written (while having basically nothing else to it besides the writing) and has as much relative tedium as Woodstock (like at least 60% of the comic.) All "well-written" movie games at least jangle keys with "character moments" and such. But, I mean, they're close. I guess I'd be disgusted if I saw someone slogging through Telltale's The Walking Dead in public.
There is something identical out there which is a really bad, long VN. (I think I've gone on record of saying that "Woodstock isn't actually that long" because a lot of the panels have no text and there's a severe lack of meaningful content given its "length" and scope but it is still technically long in that it has a lot of pages and I'm equating utterly soulless, robotic descriptions of what I'm supposed to see with pictures, even if they're alongside pictures of what is described. It's about the spirit of the thing. Woodstock implicitly prides itself on being LOOOOOONG so it needs something that's actually LOOOOOOONG as its equivalent.) I don't know enough about VNs to call one out and I haven't been persuaded to develop prejudice for one of the usual suspects (those with that reputation also tend to have a pretty big fanbase.) I can't think of one, really long VN that's near-universally shit on and is considered a meme but, again, I'm no expert.
Danganronpa is "long" (30 hours) but it's not LOOOOOOOOONG. Granted, there are sequels. If I saw a grown adult playing the sequels, I'd assume they played the previous ones and I guess that'd invoke the same disgust as Woodstock but that (and 100L) feel like a cop-out even if the comparison is apt for distinct reasons that probably won't apply to the hypothetical LOOOOOOOOOOOONG VN that everyone hates. Yes, I know that it being something everyone hates makes it dissimilar to Woodstock which has an active fanbase but everyone knows that can be attributed to factors other than the comic's contents as a whole.
I also don't want an ironic hipster VN (even if that puts closer it to what Woodstock is) though I sincerely doubt that one that parodies what is perceived as "the LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG, purple prose, self-indulgent type of VN" exists because 1) Most VN haters are so reactionary and uninformed that they won't even recognize that as a thing ("muh dating sims") 2) I doubt this type of person would have the cleverness to come up with a premise that'd make for a good parody 3) I doubt they'd have the intelligence (distinct from cleverness) and diligence to actually expound upon that premise in a way that makes some degree of sense, but is ultimately futile, and makes the reading experience really LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG which is ultimately what the parody should do
I know why "Woodstock is an anime" took off, it was popular when the meme of calling a thing that isn't anime an anime was considered the peak of comedy on Tumblr. But really, Woodstock is more like a VN (because it is utterly terrible as a comic.) A VN with FMVs. You overlay the Pesterlogs onto the panel, you let the Gifs and animations (badass rigging FMVs!) play out as normal, you put dialogue in boxes with sprites at the side, you PLAY the GAMES(?!!?!??!?!) It's a Visual Novel. A really bad Visual Novel. For a fandom so autistic, and granted, I'm not the biggest KNOWER of fanadventures, but it seems like there are only a handful of "remix" projects, I'm surprised no one has taken the opportunity to indulge themselves in the exercise of misery of remaking the comic in this format.
Why did I type all this out? I've got nerves today, I guess. And I'm still not using my computer for much.

>>31022Yeah, I had more faith in this being the outcome. But let's think about the in-universe mechanics here. It's justified for le based pagan Gods turn to their backs on people if they stop worshiping them? But Christianity was le forced and violent and persecutory. Is this Asianbrain at work? Why is the onus entirely on the people? I'm assuming Tats is (relatively logically) of the belief that people's native religions are their own and that they're all valid and based and Hecking valid as long as they stick to themselves. I don't think he thinks Slavic or Germanic or perhaps broadly "European" paganism is the end-all, be-all for the world. Whatever, this isn't worth thinking about.

Though these types and their
mewling about Christianity always still gets to me. They do know that Christianity is internally very diverse, right? Every country that was Christianized absorbed existing cultural elements. Even in just the United States, there's an incredible amount of cultural distinctiveness to different branches of Christianity. And besides Judaism, they have absolutely no interest in the effect of any other world religion. Islam and native Middle Eastern beliefs, Hinduism and native South Asian beliefs, Buddhism and native Far Eastern beliefs? Sure, they might not have the same stigma (note the word "stigma") of violence (even though persecution goes both ways for all of them and let's forget how Romans initially treated Christians) but the "deeper" rhetoric remains the same. So why does only European paganism matter as based and trad? Tats is seemingly enamored with his Japanese identity and Japanese nationalism so where's all the
mewling about Buddhism?
Yes, I know people out there exist or existed hence kokugaku but these people (current-tense, trad pagan LARPers) only focus on their own nation and religion, which I suppose makes sense, but they use incredibly broad arguments about "universalizing" religions. It's also very easy to debunk these arguments as theologically illiterate. Yeah, they're just fundamentally deracinating faiths; were the Temples not important to the Jews? Is Golgotha,
smurfing Jerusalem not
smurfing important? These people fail to realize that any strain of paganism or Shinto or whatever could have just as easily become world religions if history had played out differently, there's nothing vital to their essence that necessarily prevents that. Now, would they still be the same, would the transition affect their integrity as a faith? That's a different conversation. One none of these people like to have because they're of the opinion that Christianity was always le #jewed and Judaism was always a nomad religion of cultural leeches. They have absolutely no sense of history. The most disgusting and base forms of nationalism arise from this superficial rejection of the modern and foreign. Conservatives and other retarded forms of nationalists want this purified strain of memory to be the core of culture of a nation that somehow sits atop the world stage. This is simply impossible and it isn't even desirable.
I say one thing isn't worth talking about and then I go on about something that is equally as pointless to talk about.

Due to lacking a period of proper statehood and the context of Abrahamic laws regarding usury, Jews became tied to capital- one of the primary progenitors of nationhood- which further influenced the faith into the direction of a cosmopolitan subculture."
These are broad strokes because I ultimately never finished it. Intellectually, it's kind of tenuous because I considered the Gupta Empire to be the "nationalization" of Hinduism and the proper realization of Hinduism as a religion and there WAS a Jewish state around that period. I'm not sure if I'm working backwards from antisemitism because there are aspects of Jewish faith that I find disgusting like the "kosher" way to turn on a light without technically breaking the rules of Sabbath by using a switch. But something has to explain shit like that. It's not unique to Jews but it's certainly a lot more (relatively) prevalent than "anal only before marriage" Christians or other weird phenomena like that.

>>31147>There's that Twitter buzzword again, "sexualized". Imagine being so
besotted with Internet arguments and porn that you think "sexualized" is somehow a buzzword. It's not. It has a very clear and direct meaning. It is not a label with vague connotations that you can slap onto something to other it (like how zoomers use "
wweird") It is, at the very least, less of a buzzword than the shit (YOU) specifically throw out like goon which is so broad that it covers "everything I don't like" for (YOU) She has blow-up doll lips and fat titty window honkers, whatever, that's fine but it's clearly sexualized. Would you say that image isn't sexualized? I don't we'd be having this argument if you thought so.
I more have a problem with the kind of person
besotted with politics and Westoid porn addicts (which is more of an actual buzzword but given how defensive you get over SEX HORNY FETISH, it's apt) and you happen to be both.
>Case in pointWhat
smurfing point? Le "goons ruined your brain?" You
smurfing suck at talking. I can hate purity culture and coombrain retards. I don't really like horny or pornographic drawings mostly because it's a waste of talent. Obviously, I can enjoy them but if someone posts that shit out of the blue, it's a redflag and you're a repeat offender. I don't particularly like sex or sexuality, they're kind of wastes of time for someone like me and I wish I could just switch it off entirely. But, again, my umbrage lies mostly with the kind of person who lets their dysregulated libido define their personality and that comes in many forms like people who constantly make shitty jokes about sex or people who let lust over some fictional character(s) dictate their entire perception of whatever the character(s) came from and is basically all they can talk about when you bring up the whatever they're from (which is the case with a lot of /co//v/id users and I think it applies to you too- /v/ Deltarune spergs will tolerate anything written by Fobby so long as they can fantasize about their sweetheart in more BASED and REDPILLED sexual scenarios)
Even still, I can tolerate hornyposters to an extent so long as they don't shit their
smurfing pants and whine about this being another boner shoah when you point out that they're hornyposting.

There are a number of power fantasies in Woodstock. The revenge fantasies are kind of divorced from them. All of the shitty people he has a vendetta against are a threat to his image and nothing more.

>can you really judge other people for "wasting their talents" over a medium you do nothing besides being a drooling consumer of, exactly? This line of logic is so blisteringly retarded. Can I not recognize that they have talent where I don't? Is that where this begins? OK, is the next step that I can't deem any creative endeavor more valuable than another? I can't prefer one form of expression over the other? And why is that? Because I can't do it myself? It's wrong to want to have people express themselves in more meaningful ways? Oh, I can't decide what's meaningful, right. Well, I can certainly decide what's meaningful expression for myself, with my skills. And personally, I think tracing an anime girl is well within my capabilities but I'd view it as a lot less fulfilling than doing one of my abstract doodles. Therefore, I apply the same logic to other people. I would rather have people make comics and original pieces than draw fanart and porn. It's what I would do. It's what I have done. You talk about me being a "drooling consumer" when ostensibly defending what actual drooling consumers lap up (fanart and porn. And it's not to say it's completely worthless, I like fanart for what it is, I just wish more people felt inclined to use their drawing skills to perhaps do something as simple as make a joke or express something more personal. This, of course, is evil.)

No.31355
>>31354Yeah sure if you're putting the baseline at "lol just trace animu girl xd" then no shit you're seeing it as some "this is subhumab filth" thing. You don't need to be making smut to do that. I said that's a lot of talk because drawing sexual content isn't something that goes the way you might think it does.
Do you have any idea how the work hours of a pornographer might go? it's nowhere fun. From where you're standing you think it's just "oh hnnggg oomf oomf hot sex uwu" and it's just not that is what you're fundamentally undermining is the problem.
Do you know what painting smut feels like? it feels like taking your favorite dish and chewing on it for 4-12 hours until your taste buds are completely
smurfing fried to it and by the time you're done, the finished work barely mangled comes out muscle memory. You might THINK it's fun to make, it is not. It's one of the worst cruelties you can do to yourself because if you DO draw/paint something that YOU find sexually arousing, I guarantee you it's just gonna lose its magic in 3-5 exports. Think about it like that. If you actually care about outputting fine art that actually works, then you're effectively desensitizing yourself to your own sexual/fetishistic preferences, on the spot, right away.
You can argue that what comes out is morally dubious and whatever, sure. I'm not saying that porn makes anyone smarter. But having to sit with your own arousal and soending hours articulating it into a finished piece withOUT any release, and you just
smurfing finish it. Boom, done. Gone. So is your erection. That thing looks like eating 8 olives in a row. No taste no schnaz no nothing left to it. All dead. You might think it's fun, it absolutely is not. If anything it's more punishing to do than some something mythical, because myth doesn't lose weight once it's done. Pornography exists for roughly 8 minutes and you go into that knowing that it exists for no meaningful scope of time beyond that, and people still take the time making it JUST so you can zork your gorking off to it and pretend you're all high and mighty once you're done.

>>31372Not lesbian shit like your gay ass image implies. Feferi seemed to have inherited the corrupted manic pixie dream girl characterization from Vriska since Vriska later became "STEAL SPOTLIGHT OH SO COMPLICATED
'ANTIHERO'" where she doesn't really seem to care about who lives or dies (with Eridan's FLARP) but is generally peppy and borderline delusionally idealistic (her playing pretend with the sea critters in cages she knows they'll escape from was nice characterization.) However, when Hu¢¢ie talks about her, he neglects this fact, probably in part because it means admitting that his conceptualization of Vriska changed due to how divisive she was with the fans. He just says she's boring. But, no, there were nuggets of interesting characterization there, you just did nothing with it. He continues this diatribe with the typical persona-crafting nonsense to explain away other legitimately boring characters like Jane and Calliope. (The morbid manic pixie dream girl thing is then moved onto God-Tier Aradia which is similarly uncommented on despite "muh persona alchemy")
There was a similar thing with Eridan where he had doomsday weapons and was actively working to prevent the Vast Glub (instead of letting it go through and then killing Feferi's lusus) and Feferi saying that Eridan could easily do his genocide shit if he wanted (and remember, this is a comic where a lot of what characters say about others needs to be taken at face value.) The interesting (and funnier) read is that Eridan is all talk and this is a part of his military LARP and he just craves attention. Yes, he does hate
landdwwellers but he's just a melodramatic theater kid. The other interpretation is that he doesn't commit genocide because of a girl he likes. And I can see how you think that's funnier. And it can be both, in part, but I think it just being the latter boils down Eridan to quadrant wangst (which is part of why Hu¢¢ie made him flip out, even claiming that his genocidal tendencies were behind it… which doesn't make much sense contextually) Hu¢¢ie, of course, did an equally boring thing with Eridan where he essentially panics out of cowardice and destroys the matriorb in what seems to be an impulse because he lost all hope. Eridan's freakout, but more importantly Hu¢¢ie's word of God (that doesn't make much logical sense) implies that Eridan was only held back by his desire for Feferi which is terrible and also, paradoxically, makes his entire character centered around quadrant wangst (despite this writing choice being partially made to remind people of his genocide complex and undermine all the ronery Eri fandom shit.)
Back to Vriska, one reason they probably didn't interact aside from the one walkaround talk (besides Hu¢¢ie hating female friendships) is that it doesn't line up with the dramatic narrative that Vriska isolated herself completely by killing Tavros. Gamzee would obviously put up with her on account of him being Gamzee (unless Karkat told him otherwise which is kind of a gray era, we don't really know if Gamzee would respect that or not. I now remember that he says she scares him but I frankly don't think that's enough for him to ignore her.) It's implied that Nepeta and Feferi at least tolerate her (though Nepeta is uncomfortable and Vriska mentions that her and Feferi don't talk enough.) She also has her relationship with Equius, as complicated as it may be (she didn't know he was/would soon be dead, like Feferi and Nepeta)I think this was the one bit of Murderstuck thought about a decent length in advance and the others were just "Okay, but what if I made it even more chaotic by adding even more character deaths" so it makes all the sloppy writing around it more frustrating because it's still better written than the rest of the gobbledygook that happens.
>The character wasn't think rationallyOkay, but why? We also have to take account of her grooming John to be her Tavros 2.0 (as well as having a good relationship wit John) and being much more successful in that. What about her killing Tavros made that feel futile? Even one of the better parts of Act 5 Act 2 is riddled with meaningless ambiguity.
>She had no one she could freely tortureWe were kind of past that characterization of Vriska by that point. The way Hu¢¢ie writes her regret is almost comical in how desperately he tries to make it seem sincere. She wasn't just her playtoy, he was probably the person closest to understanding her (besides Terezi) despite how little he reciprocated her on basically everything. And then she is (written to be, kind of inexplicably) remarkably transparent with John to the point where it instantly makes John the closest person to understanding her. And then she doesn't find that cathartic and rethink her plan? I get that these lapses of judgement are a part of tragedies and a moment of introspection before the fall is a staple but it just reads as stupid once we get to the SEER OF MIND telling "Uh, yeah, Vriska, don't do this, this will lead to the deaths of everyone else" (the second time someone says this exact thing to her) and Vriska… not believing? Not caring? She didn't believe Terezi would actually kill her, that's a fact. It'd be one thing if Terezi just killed her preemptively after Vriska reflected, that would be tragic and better written (aside from the "Terezi wasn't pretending to be retarded, she was actually tricked by the clown" element) but the comic makes it expressly clear that if no one had stopped her, Vriska would have flown off to fight Bec Noir at that exact moment which is just asinine.
To get back to the actual topic, it's hard to imagine what they'd talk about (since Woodstock lacks good "characterization talks" beyond introductions.) I'd imagine they'd just gossip where Vriska goes on about doing heroic shit or scheming and Feferi goes on about reforming the caste system and they both encourage each other but neither really give a shit. That's funny and interesting in its own right but probably hard to justify its "timeslot" to Hu¢¢ie even if it more strongly characterizes Feferi. Hu¢¢ie liked anything involving Vriska to revolve around Vriska (hence the butchering of Terezi) so that makes it even more unlikely. Though there were more useless logs in the comic as is so I do consider this a sin. A lot of time is wasted faffing about with Karkat and Vriska; this is basically the only reason why a huge chunk of the cast became expendable, they could have all been decently interesting and funny (except maybe Gamzee.) And despite the trimming of the fat… Kanaya is somehow one of the ones to live…

The mechanics of SBurb and the fractured nature of the friend group at least makes certain characters useful for being a PoV which is how they were used in part(which helped establish "things happening off-screen", one of Hu¢¢ie's favorites) and that could have continued. I'll say it once, I'll say it a million times, Murderstuck was retarded. FEFERI MUST LIVE.

>>31408>Kanaya is somehow one of the ones to liveI know I'm biased (because I hate momfriends) but I can't emphasize how "spent" Kanaya was as a character. She used her introduction to be a PoV on Vriska, served a role in Eridan's story (terrible as it may be), Tavros's story, and Rose's story (even though it was ultimately a disservice to both of them), had relatively little screentime, and had absolutely NOTHING going on for her by herself. If she died when Eridan blasted her, it would have been a bitter (and forced) but fitting end for her. Her getting revenge, in retrospect, is not that good of a character moment. Eridan was a self-absorbed bonehead but he wasn't abusive or anything to her before he killed her. So it's just revenge for that.
I've said this before but I 100% think he brought Kanaya back because nobody gave a shit she was gone. He killed the cute girls and the joke characters and Kanaya and waited for the reaction. He might have done the same for Sollux. Sollux is the only other character who I can say is as close as "spent" to Kanaya- he did his role in the plot, he can't do much more (God-Tier Aradia could still be used as a plot device), he's barely gotten screentime and he's got nothing going on. I think Hu¢¢ie didn't off Sollux solely to make the joke about him being blind and losing his teeth, not wanting one of his self-inserts to completely job to Eri of all people, and maybe move the meteor? (The last of which he could have done as a ghost since Aradia and him just start hanging around ghosts in the comic proper anyway but I don't want to think about the
smurfing ghosts) Arguably, every character could have had a narratively fitting death besides Gamzee (God-Tier Dave just pops up and beheads crazy murder clown) and Aradia if Hu¢¢ie wanted to go scorched Earth (Terezi gets killed by the clown that tricked her in a display of very good writing and Karkat gets killed by his former moirail to hit home how much he failed at keeping the group together.)
There was NOTHING for Kanaya to do after she killed Eridan. You think for a split second that she's going to come into conflict with Karkat for wanting to kill Gamzee but then she… doesn't try and that is never a factor in anything. I don't need to say how much I hate Rosemary as pandering (and you can tell it's pandering because it's got of a hint of subversionarino in there to bitter the taste with Rose being a blubbering drunk. I won't go over how much their interactions are ruined if you read it as some kind of deeply insincere and guarded bubbling romance) but I also
smurfing hate this weird astroturf of Karkat and Kanaya always being best buddies when they first talked in the
smurfing group memos. Remember when all the trolls had a big, interconnected plan? Remember how it was Karkat, Terezi, and Vriska who were the main people behind it? Where was Kanaya to momfriend it up with the characters those 3 didn't have the best relationship with? She was a non-factor because her characterization and supposed dynamic in groups were up in the air at that point. Only once most of the trolls are dead will she truly start to meddling because…

If we're ignoring the factors of 2/3 of the Murderstuck plots existing because they're retarded, what are some characters that didn't do much, didn't play much of a role in other characters plots, and have something going on with them? Who could be a good PoV character for the rest of the cast? Gamzee and Nepeta fit the first two but don't really have anything going on. Gamzee is a perfect PoV character which is why he's allowed to do literally anything needed by the plot in the comic proper, but I digress. I'd argue that Eridan and Feferi fit all four criteria. Both of them especially if Kanaya is somehow dead (because of the matriorb.) Equius is too plot relevant and did too much, I feel. So if we're making *minimal* changes to Murderstuck, Sollux and Kanaya die while Feferi lives. This isn't the cleanest rant but that's how I feel- I really think Kanaya was spent, he didn't know what to do with the characters he killed off but he didn't know what to do with Kanaya either so he just used her to pander to Tumblr. I feel that very strongly. Trading her (and Sollux) in for Feferi less so because it still means the retarded Murderstuck plots still happen and he'd have basically no idea what to do with her beyond "She wants to save her species and make its society more equitable" (The first half is part of Kanaya's character because she's uh, a Jadeblood, I guess, but she has no real personal investment in it so yes, Feferi is an upgrade there) so, you know. And we all know the resurrection itself was an asspull and has no real in-universe explanation.
Oh, yeah, the dreambubbles, she did SOMETHING significant unlike the other contenders. I guess you could swap her for Eri but then how do Sollux and Kanaya die? Whatever.

It could stay a fanon theory for me, but oncely rereading Woodstock I've met some line Vriska texted Karkat and those line could be brightly red interested. Which would make for a main male troll of Woodstock (according to Hu¢¢ie) a fullness of quadrant romance you can easily guess who with.
FEF+TAV - a protective royal cheerful girl and a poor little cripple peasant with a good heart that needs a big cheer? I can see their interaction, but I haven't

No.31510
>>31486not really on topic I'm sure but I don't feel like "your own unique style" is a thing that exists nor should nor could exist. visual arts isn't magically detached from its content and context, this is why cartoons (i.e. anime, for example) have some degree of universality in their basic design (exaggerated expressions, exaggerated emotions, slapstick humor, etc.) whereas the same logics (physics or otherwise) you can't see as often in something like a photorealist film. art styles can be best described as tastes and being a good artist fundamentally requires knowing what you're cooking, where, from where, and who for?
the Woodstock art style is fundamentally just a collection of certain qualifiers combined in a specific context at the mass producible levels.
>meaning? It's a webcomic from what, y2k? the 90s? targeting a demographic that's nostalgic about those eras. ehat fundamentally defines that "art style" is moreso the fact that someone on the other end was capable of structurally recreating similar and adjacent contexts for it to hold.
>Meaning?Homeatuck is Woodstock mainly because the person making it was capable of re-generating similar entries to the same project, which in relation to art is one of the hardest things to do and that is fundamentally why basically *anything* of that ballpark is worth money
>Meaning? If you can feel as horny every day at least once, and paint one piece at least once, it'd accrue a following. A good restaurant is often financially acclaimed by its capacity to reproduce the last thing you ordered, not re-inventing it.
Depending on what your goals are, a consistent art style is one of the most pointless things you can structurally imprison yourself to for no valid reason. While a good restaurant might be reliable, a good chef should know how to cook all sorts and for all sorts of people.
With enough observations you can fundamentally just chart out a map (roughly in 3d space) in between art styles in terms of how close they are to one another and what they significantly successfully depict. Pornography will almost always accommodate some degrees of realism or hyperrealism for these reasons, and hence a cartoon is exaggerated, and if you go back to compare traditionally acclaimed art styles like the renaissance or ukiyo-e and other similar 13-18th century styles you'll realize that the most they have in common is the visual flatness, which is "fundamental" for what's considered "good art" even though I'd personally disagree.
A renaissance piece most especially for example specializes in de-sex-ifying the human figure(s) same as ukiyo-e and many other similar art styles of these eras, which is practically why they're considered "good."
A good piece, be that smut, or romance, or anything of the emotional sorts, should and often should run on the basis of being universally legible enough in its signifiers that you don't NEED to understand what you're looking at in order to feel it, same as how you can say "this song sounds sad" without understanding the language.
Which is often funny because people who discuss art from outside making art don't fundamentally realize that the things they might try to posit themselves away from (like sexuality) might be much closer and present than they ever realize. The Sistine Chapel has "obscenities" painted into it along with one of I believe the popes with his weiner hanging out (obscured) and in hell. This is fundamentally nothing less sexual than something that's inherently sexual, it's only just so removed enough from the sexuality and contextually dependant enough that it appears so to you.
It's definitely funny. Sometimes you paint something that is contextually horny, and textually "not." and only a specific person or person(s) (often those "in on it") can feel that sexual charge, only because they can understand which character presents what and represents whom.
A funny anecdote could be that recently I've read about how michelangelo apparently had some degree of either a gay affair, or crush (I didn't care to read that much into it) and apparently he drew "Raping of Ganymede" and sent it in the mail so the recipient could "practice and learn through it." Fyi the original myth is about zeus getting horny and yanking a pretty boy anyways, more or less. Which is only furthermore bizarre that his next of kin then tries burying the gay with him and re-narrate the letters as though they were written to a woman until it's later discovered, that they're not.
That's really silly how these things work. People call it a gaydar, for example. You say something that is so clearly, blatantly not gay at all. But the one person across the room is made to feel really, really gay because of it, and others around find it really annoying in some way they can't articulate. Humans really are strange, honestly :)

I often think about Rob Liefeld and his art. It got kind of weird at one point, but part of that was because of how it got colored because his pencil work would be fine. I think Rob got a lot of undeserved hate because his proportions and ability to draw straight lines were bad, but he didn't really care about those things. He just wanted to draw big actions scenes the way a five year old imagines them, and that appealed to people to the point where he became one of the most financially successful comic book artists and even got a Levi jeans ad directed by Spike Lee.
No.31519
>>31513I can't personally relate to it but that's probably just my chessbrain. this one I made basically only using stock images (almost entirely) and whatever plugins I had, I specifically wanted to try my hand at the "lowest" quality materials to see how well of a thing I could make with it. Recently I've been painting smut for the first time in my life as well, mostly specifically because I never did it. The specific style ends up being picked on the spot usually because I'm mostly just deciding from a set of variables that are trying to answer the "what would best work here?" question. If I stuck to a very specific set of characters, or people, or places, maybe I could stick it with a very specific style. But since I don't really keep track of long-format projects (often because they bore me to even think of) I can't, exactly.
Though this seems to be a general issue with arts. Something I noticed is that the people who draw comics are often not the ones who write them. I used to think of this as like some kind of "wow that sucks. why would you draw someone else's work?" but whenever I try drawing my own writing, I can't make it come out because it feels brain numbing. Inspiration feels like an impulse, usually, if you think too long about it, its already gone. The most I could personally use a visual register was roughly for maybe 10-20 pieces in a row.
Which is partly why this specific kind of setup appears to be "my" style now, at least in hindsight. I best excel at these meme-but-not kind of formats, or so it SEEMS. The work is usually a blend of crude or pedantic jokes in some sense, blent with some degree of autistic intellectualism. I feel like if you do make good work, you don't need to take it too seriously, and if you're painting something dumb, you should name it very serously, and if you're painting something seriously, it needs to be named something as dumb as it can get like "moses of my dick.png" so you don't feel too corny about yourself. At least that's how I process it, but I don't really do these for any audience besides maybe for one person at a time so that definitely factors in I'd imagine.

I wish I knew music so I could explain why I find so much of his music (some Woodstock, most TUNDRA EEL) so grating. A lot of it's very repetitive, lacks proper bridges(?), has a dissonant hook (in a gay way, IDK), it all sounds very flat since it's all synth shit and it's always mixed very evenly, maybe it's compressed? I guess this is a backhanded compliment that he's "distinct" but it's only because of bad things. If I hear a song I like, I don't think it's Fobby. Two really good songs from him are Davesprite (which I think sounds like him and is short) and Black (which I don't think sounds like him.) I think Black is too much of a proper score, and it captures momentum, the song just keeps gaining energy. Descend is a really good song but I can recognize it as being from Fobby. In part, because it's a remix of a bunch of other shit but compositionally, it's comparatively complex and almost symphonic? It's also NOT
SMURFING FLAT like so much Fobby shit tends to be. It feels tailor-made for a Flash but Fobby said "No one asked for it, I just wanted to make the ultimate remix of all the songs" in the commentary but I half-doubt that? Hu¢¢ie said Black was a good example of the music influencing the comic but holy shit, Descend had to have made a huge splash. (I forget when the music drama happened and Fobby officially became the "boss" of the music team, I think it was around Alternia? Also, sure, let's give Woodstock kiddies the benefit of the doubt. But they're going out of their way to fill in the gaps they can't replicate. And what gaps can't they replicate? They're so organized and diligent that they know the exact Photoshop tool and size used and have a catalogue of existing bases (which the comic proper uses liberally) Anime is also at least one step above Woodstock sprite tooning.
Really, I had a problem with the exact style they were copying, like damn, imagine wanting to make all these wacky adventures but feeling obligated to make it this sterile, simple toon style where the character designs have no personality (shapes, mother
smurfer, not clothes) and the characters never go off-model to show personality. It's designed for mass-production which burns these kids out anyway. I like Peanuts, as has been established, but I'd gawk at a "Peanuts style help" Discord channel. I guess I'm a bit of a hypocrite because I'd LIKE to draw like Jack Kirby who was also notoriously economic with how he drew people but he was also known for meticulous detail when it came to tech. I guess I'd just want to copy the some of the linework and coloration (which was not done by him but was guided by him) because I prefer people to be drawn more cartoony with distinctive shapes.

I guess a revelation I had about Woodstock that stemmed from the cringe-worthy exchange Dave and Dirk have as the least piece of dialogue is that Hu¢¢ie was probably a guy with a lot of doubts and problems that he suppressed to just keep going forward without much introspection or critical thinking. That's what all that irony shit is, ultimately. He is a very much "fake it until you make it" guy and yeah, he finished the story, made something that a lot of people attached themselves to, and made bank. But is it really the right decision for yourself as a person? Obviously not. I think the art reflects that with it feeling so hollow for even more people (I do legitimately think the amount of people who hate Woodstock outnumbers its fanbase if we don't count secondaries.)

All of the Woodstock music is making me depressed. Which I guess is better than the other thing.
It's just sad that something from a genuinely creative person (I've been flippant on calling Hu¢¢ie truly creative or not, right now, I'm giving him some leeway because I'm thinking of his hypothetical aim to make Problem Sleuth 2.0 which is fine and dandy) that was a honeypot for other creative people turned into a flaming piece of shit because he didn't want to confront himself and let his petty misanthropy corrupt everything, only sparing a token amount of effort for a “proper” end. Yeah, I hated most of Woodstock but it's the ending that made it truly worthless.
The most depressing part is that there are people out there that REALLY like it and it's a core part of their identity. Yes, everyone almost universally agrees that it's messy but it still elicits emotion from people. And it's kind of heartbreaking to see people grow so attached to something that festered from bad habits and an aversion to artistry. They're genuinely attracted to this mirror of a man gradually worsening; it should be his betterment that's manifest, this is the opposite of what art is supposed to be.

This even applies to the dejected anti-fans with their hang-ups. Just the other day, I daydreamed about what would happen if I made my own splinter of Woodstock with little fanfare or deliberately underplayed. I was mostly just curious about what the response would be and if people could fill in the gaps for me (this isn't the higher-minded version I've been sitting on because that's very hard to work with, this would just be a retcon to steer it in the direction of Problem Sleuth 2.0)

Of course not much of insight was given and I didn't know this preceded the pilot because the pilot came out-of-the-blue for me. It's just depressing to see Hu¢¢ie continue to climb up the backs of giddy, simple-minded fangirls for more clout and money. I hope for the pilot to fail but I have no ill will towards any of the useful idiots involved. Well, actually, only a little ill will. They should know better. But I have a feeling that one of the many ways this can crash and burn is that since Hu¢¢ie is overseeing the project, he's going to pull an Anno and seem disapproving of everything and lock himself in his office or some shit, just have some sort of meltdown that forces it into development Hell because he doesn't know how to work with groups and he wouldn't want them to go ahead without his approval and since they're all super big fans, they wouldn't push ahead without him.
The implication that Hu¢¢ie and Fobby are basically joined at the hip is another redflag about Fobby's character. That's about all you get info-wise. And I guess confirmation that there won't be Dubiously Canon retcons which is I guess, a win but they could always go back on it and it wasn't worded so strongly to disclude the possibility of "things that allude to elements of the Epilogues and Woodstock^2" that aren't in the original comic.

EVANGELION ALERT

:
Wondering why all the vague and obfuscated stuff in Evangelion feels fun and deliberate while all the Mysery Boxisms in Woodstock feel contrived and like ways to force speculation. Other than the main plot not being written like complete shit, I'm struggling to come up with a good answer since there are still questions a thoughtful viewer would have when watching Evangelion that are plot essential and fairly grounded, not really something you should leave up to implication (Why was Gendo in the room with Lilith with Rei in EoE? I don't really understand that so it's the perfect example.) I guess a lot of stuff in Woodstock is delayed gratification where there's something you have basically no good explanation for (the Bunny in The Box) that you just kind have to wait to be explained while Evangelion has a ton of things that are never explained but just heavily implied. I feel comfortable in saying that most of the "heavily implied" stuff in Woodstock is gobbledygook and just fanon.
In general, what makes for good mystery and intrigue and what's actually just Mystery Box shit? I feel like it's a thinner line than most people think (especially people who hate Mystery Box shit)

Woodstock Wiki really needs to get its shit together since it can't even remember basic Formspring answers.

To think of all the creative process shit that got nuked with MSPAF and nobody gives a
smurf (except Makin but he's Makin.) I guess this is the fandom being incurious because they aren't diligent with finding scraps.

Like we can't say, for certain, "Oh, Susie learned that the prophecy had this fate in store for her, that gives context to why she reacted in this new fashion"

>>31828>Why was Gendo in the room with Lilith with Rei in EoE?It's been while since I last watched EoE, but I can remember that Gendo was trying to initiate Third Impact by himself while in possession of Adam's soul through fusion with Rei/Lilith's soul. However, Rei no way dreg's him, and you already know the rest.
Regarding Woodstock, I wouldn't say I'm left confused about some of its subplots and plot-points because they lack explanation and aren't properly elaborated upon as much as that a lot of them just don't have a pay off. I guess I could ask questions such as "why is Aradia constantly changing personalities?", but that's still not as pressing as asking "what even was the point of this?"

>>31843>but I can remember that Gendo was trying to initiate Third Impact by himself while in possession of Adam's soul through fusion with Rei/Lilith's soul. I mean, that's what I always assumed but he's using Adam (fused with Rei) which has the potential to wipe out humanity and "only Lilith" is what SEELE wanted. What's confusing is that he says "Let's go" and reacts negatively when Rei fuses with Lilith and I think he says "Third Impact is about to happen" verbatim as if it's negative and "I'm sorry, Shinji" You can assume that this reaction is because Rei is clearly rejecting him and his wish and
smurfing off (to Shinji to have him decide whether Third Impact happens.) But why did he need Adam for his "scenario"?
My understanding for why he could possibly need Adam is that he wanted Rei to fuse with Unit01 (since she has Adam in her and the Evangelions were born from Adam) and then he'd salvage the body fused with the soul from that and get Yui. Which is not Third Impact at all. It's probably some combination of these things that I don't understand. But if it was only the Evangelion, why did he have her in the Lilith room to begin with? Just to explain to her her true origins?
I'm exposing myself as a poseur.

>>31843>but that's still not as pressing as asking "what even was the point of this?"Granted, that's kind of what I get from a lot of Evangelion's mysteries but the somewhat meta takeaway is that it's mysterious because "None of this really matters; people will do anything to escape themselves" which I guess you can say applies to Woodstock too? But on a much more abstract level (since it's more the narrative itself and not mechanical details of the setting) and of course, very poorly.
